I read Robert Kanigel's "The Man Who Knew Infinity : A Life of the Genius Ramanujan" in '93, two years after it came out. He saw the work of Ramanujan and opined that Hardy of Trinity College would be the best person to judge his work. Well, his dear UK colleagues let him die of starvation and without medical care.
